    We Can Help!

Finding a Greensboro chiropractor can be confusing, as there are many to choose from...so allow us to tell you a little about your first visit at Central Chiropractic.  First, a neck and/or back spinal screening by Dr. Spell will be conducted, including a motion palpation test to help diagnose the exact location of any loss of normal spinal movement.  Motion palpation is a safe and painless testing procedure.  Dr. Spell, standing behind you, uses one hand to move your spine through its ranges of motion.  The other hand presses against each individual vertebra (bone of the spine).  This allows him to locate the exact joint that is not moving and in which direction (flexion, extension, rotation, or lateral flexion) the joint has lost mobility.  If a loss of spinal movement is not found, Dr. Spell will refer you to the appropriate health care professional that can best diagnose and treat your condition.

    What Is Chiropractic?

Spinal mechanics, including the vertebrae, corresponding nerves, muscles, and ligaments, play a primary role in the health of the whole body. Physical injury, repetitive motions, emotional stress, or chemical imbalance may not allow the spine to move properly within its normal range of motion. Spinal dysfunction can cause irritation to the delicate nerve tissue.

The primary treatment of chiropractic is spinal manipulation (frequently called an adjustment.) An adjustment is a gentle technique in which the chiropractor applies pressure by hand to a specific bone that has lost the ability to bend forward, bend backward, rotate to each side, or laterally bend to each side. The pressure is applied quickly and only in the direction in which the bone has lost its normal movement. This allows the joint to regain normal movement by realigning the injured soft tissue fibers (muscles, ligaments, and other connective tissue). Regained joint mobility can then reduce nerve irritation and joint inflammation.

January 2015 Chiropractic Tip: Chiropractic BOOSTS Antioxidants!

Our goal as a Greensboro Chiropractor clinic is to help our patients live a healthier, pain-free life, and the latest scientific literature on antioxidants shows a direct correlation to the benefits of chiropractic.

Anti-oxidants are naturally occurring chemicals that protect the body from free radicals. Fresh fruits and vegetables are good sources of anti-oxidants, but your body also produces anti-oxidants to ward off damage.

In this new study, researchers looked at 23 people who were suffering from back or neck pain. Each patient received 10 chiropractic adjustments over a period of five weeks. Blood samples were taken from the test subjects before and after the study period, and the researchers noted levels of three specific anti-oxidants: superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase, and glutathione peroxidase (GPx).

At the end of the study, there was no difference in antioxidant catalase, but there was a significant increase in both SOD and GPx.

If you would like to improve your health naturally and get pain relief, a Greensboro Chiropractor is a large part of the answer. Give our office a call today at 336-379-0170 to see how we can help you.
